Northeast Alberta Street–nestled between NE 15th and NE 30th–is one of our favorite independent shopping and noshing meccas in Portland–especially in December, when we need MORE GLITTER.

It’s a 15-block blast-from-the-past, replete with small, local shops, coffee enclaves, bakeries, and eateries. Plus, some of the most inspired wall art you’ve ever seen.

Sometimes it’s the pie that lures us. Random Order Pie vies with Lauretta Jeans (on SE Division) for THE BEST PIE IN PORTLAND. We’re suckers for their all-butter crust and seasonal fillings. And we love their siren call, “Pie to the people!”

Every December, Alberta Main Street pulls out the stops and pours on the holiday spirit.
Like Lit Up & Local. Annual Tree Lighting. And our absolute fave, Gnome for the Holidays.
All this holiday spirit might make you want to live in the Alberta Arts neighborhood. What a good idea! We can help, natch. 🙂

Making merry is an integral part of the holiday season and no city does it better than Portland, Oregon. We’re a fun-loving community, blessed with 31 unique, fun-loving neighborhoods. Alberta Arts is one of the best independent shopping destinations in Portland.

Here you’ll find locally owned and curated shops, featuring handmade apparel, jewelry, accessories, home wares, and fine crafts from Portland artists.

If you ‘re looking for an absolutely unique and treasured gift, you’ll find it on Alberta Main Street.

You’ll also find vintage treasures.

Hand printed cards, calendars, and textiles.

Locally designed and crafted wearables.

Home and lifestyle accessories.

Hand-built and wheel thrown pottery.

Wow, so much to see and so much to experience. Let’s get walking, shall we?
Take a look at our regularly updated Alberta Main Street Walking Map. You’ll find our fave shops and eats along this 30-block circular walk (15 blocks in each direction). Park on either end of the strip and make the loop on foot.

We usually park near NE 14th Avenue and walk east on the right side of the street. At NE 30th Avenue, we cross the street, make a u-turn, and walk west, back to where we began. Popping into all of the cool shops and one or two of the coffee shops provides 2-3 hours of holiday fun.

But before you hit the shops, grab a cup of coffee. Case Study Coffee is near NE 14th Avenue, Barista is near NE 17th Avenue, Random Order is near NE 18th Avenue, and Caffe Vita is near NE 29th Avenue. So regardless of where you park and which way you walk, you’re never far from excellent, locally roasted coffee.
